Advantage Women Care

Women serve a vital role in the family and community as a whole. As caregivers and nurturers, it's important for women of all ages to take proper care of themselves as well. The reasons that women visit a gynecology office are vast and highly personal. We make it our personal mission to provide outstanding care in Gynecology Spring Texas.

What is a Gynecologist?

A gynecologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and other conditions that affect the reproductive organs of women. Whether they're of childbearing age or preparing to go through menopause, women require special care for their reproductive system that will set them up for a lifetime of excellent health. The following list includes some of the common procedures and treatments performed by our doctors in our Spring Texas office.

Your specific reason for seeking the care of a skilled gynecologist may vary greatly depending on your age and current health situation. The following tests, procedures, and preventative measures are relied upon by women just like you:

Well-Woman Exams

A well-woman visit is one of the most important aspects of gynecology care. This visit is designed to promote preventative steps you can take, identify risk factors for disease, and establish a doctor-patient relationship. Your annual well-woman exam will include a pelvic exam and screening tests for cervical and breast cancer. During your visit, we encourage you to ask questions to help us address any concerns you have about your health.

There are several forms of contraception ranging from barrier methods and hormonal birth control to long-acting IUDs and Nexplanon insertions. A gynecologist can help you choose the most effective form of birth control that has properties best fit for your needs and lifestyle. Some types of contraception such as birth control, for example, can be used to treat endometriosis, acne, and polycystic ovary syndrome.

Whether you're looking for birth control pills, implants, intrauterine devices, or permanent surgical procedures, an experienced gynecologist can address your current needs and future goals. This will help your medical team offer access to the type of birth control that's right for you and your specific circumstances.

Infertility Testing and Treatment Options

When women have difficulty conceiving a child, the ramifications in their life and relationship can be profound. Testing and proper treatment can sometimes provide answers and solutions to the problem at hand.

Management of Pelvic Pain and Inflammatory Conditions

There are many conditions that can cause inflammation and pain in the pelvic region. Suffering from ongoing pain is an unnecessary threat to your general health and happiness. Treatment options may exist that can provide you with relief.

PAP Smear Testing

Cancer is a huge concern for many women today. Proper preventative measures can often prevent the development of serious forms of cancer affecting the female reproductive organs. Early diagnosis of these conditions is also very important.

STD Prevention and Treatment

Sexually transmitted diseases can affect your current and future health in many ways. Proper testing and prompt treatment for these common conditions is an important part of maintaining your reproductive health.

Prevention and Treatment of Breast Issues

Both benign and malignant breast conditions can affect women of all ages. Early diagnosis of these issues can provide relief from discomfort and enhance a satisfactory outcome.

Treatment of Common Urinary or Vaginal Infections

Common infections such as yeast and urinary tract infections plague women of all ages and backgrounds. These conditions can usually be treated easily and quickly by a skilled gynecologist.

Vaginitis is vaginal inflammation that may be caused by yeast, bacteria, parasites, or atrophy. The most common form of vaginitis is a yeast infection, which can be caused by any number of factors like antibiotics, diabetes, hormone therapy, pregnancy, and taking birth control. Bacterial
vaginosis is also common. While the cause is unknown, there are known risk factors such as douching and using an IUD.

Ovarian Cysts

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form on the ovaries. This condition is very common and usually not cancerous. It may not even cause symptoms or require treatment, but this is not always the case. Larger cysts can cause pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, painful intercourse, and
painful periods. A cyst that ruptures can lead to severe pain and swelling.  Ovarian cysts are usually diagnosed with a laparoscopy procedure, which can also be used to treat cysts on the ovaries.

Endometriosis is a common but painful condition in which endometrium tissue that lines the uterus is found growing  in other areas such as on the ovaries.  Endometriosis is a common source of pelvic pain, but it can also cause other symptoms such as painful intercourse, intense menstrual cramps, and lower back pain. We offer many treatment options that can alleviate symptoms of endometriosis such as hormone therapy, medication, and surgery.

Uterine fibroids are common benign tumors that affect about one-quarter of women over the age of 35. Fibroids are the most common type of tumor of the female reproductive system. Depending on the severity of the fibroids, our gynecologist may recommend a  hysterectomy or bilateral oophorectomy (removal of the ovaries). A myomectomy to remove only the fibroids may be an option to preserve fertility.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic organ prolapse is one of the most common afflictions that women can suffer, usually as a complication of surgery or childbirth. Pelvic organs like the uterus and bladder are held in place by the pelvic floor, which is made up of tissue and muscle. When the muscles weaken, the organs can drop from their normal position and bulge against the vaginal wall. This condition can cause constipation,  urinary issues, pain in the pelvis, and painful intercourse. Our urogynecologists specialize in the treatment of complicated issues like pelvic organ prolapse with treatment options that include pessaries (supportive silicone devices) and surgery.
